Practical Update #10

In the previous post, I mentioned how I took advantage of the sales to buy equipment. I also went on to talk in detail about the specifications I needed for the camera and the drone and my reasoning behind it. In this post I will be explaining my reasoning behind my purchase of the other pieces of equipment. These being a lavalier microphone, a tripod, and a micro SD card.

The microphone is needed as to record clear dialogue and diegetic sounds. To do this, I have bought an omni-directional microphone to capture the sound of the world of the film to its fullest. This microphone is wireless which may impact the sound of audio versus the traditionally wired version. However, this should reduce the mess of the set and instead further organization.

I decided that buying a tripod would be beneficial due to less need of hand held use. Hand held use would cause a shakiness in the recording and would be quite the opposite of a steady shot. More so the capabilities of the tripod would allow me to get shots that are close to the ground and are on eye level with the character. This allows for a larger variation of shots to be used in the film.

Last but not least is the micro SD memory card. I specially bought a card with speeds of 160 megabytes per second to decrease delay of editing in post production due to the constant upload and download of  recorded video and audio. This card has the maximum memory of 256 gigabytes would provides plenty of space for filming long hours. I specifically further bought this card because it will serve as my memory card for my camera and allow me to transfer the recording into my computer without need of an adapter.
