Beginnings of a Story #14

Image
The story board will begin with an ariel shot. I will use a drone to create the ariel shot and position it over a forest to make the setting look isolated. I will then put a large subtitle with slight movement of the position of the drone This subtitle will state in bold white text "Key West, Florida." During this board there will be music fitting current social tends to help harmonize with the culture of this location. Then the next show will be a crane shot that will be overhead a car. This is going to introduce an up-close view of the setting and begin to trigger the thoughts of the audience into guessing what the film is going to do. Along with these thoughts, the audience is introduced to the world that the protagonist lives in. This also gives a wonderful transition to the next shot.  The next shot cuts to a camera that is attached to the side of the vehicle as the screen appears to be moving at a very fast rate. During this sequence will be an amplified sound of the ca...

Obstacles #13

I have had to overcome several obstacles, such as finances, location, and story board. These problems have caused several moments of ponderance and thinking over of how to continue my film. These three things all correlate to one another which means planning for them goes hand in hand. By giving these issues plenty of thought, I was able to make a solution for them. Finances were an important issue because I needed to understand the equipment i needed. As a result, i came up with a list of equipment. As a result I the needed a budget for to create perimeters for spending. This budget was then formed to be 250 dollars. Location was a problem that I was easily able to overcome. This was due to my family owning a piece of lad that I knew I could utilize for my film. All the while I would create several settings. I would also be able to access this area at any time of the day which helps with time flow within a film.  As a result, location was for on site filming was answered quickly a...

Film Location #12

The film will be done on location in Zephyrhills, Florida. I have full permission to use this location as my family owns the location. This is a 4,613.416 m²  piece of land with a mobile home that is over 20 years old. As a result, I will have plenty of space to film a variety of  shots. I will be using this one location due to its variety of structures and land types. There is plenty of foliage and under growth near the trees. There is also an area which is rocky and has a mixture of sand and dirt. Along with permission to enter the mobile home; there will be plenty of opportunities to film on a single location. The times of day that will be used for this shot will be noon, afternoon, and evening. This will be used to depict an entire day's work for the protagonist. Noon will be used to show the arrival of the character. Afternoon will be used to depict when the character leaves the property. Lastly, evening will be used to show how the character acts after work hours. The la...

Practical Update #11

In the first post, I mentioned that my character will live a life of grandeur. As a result, the original story line has been edited and changed to better fit the new equipment that I have. The theme that I first laid it out as was tragedy, but after further deliberation I decided on a coming of age and perseverance film. The coming of age in this movie would be into the business of real estate.  The character will come from a background of successful realtors, and therefore feels pressure as he must succeed. He will review, land, homes, and properties alike all the while depicting a casual look. This look would be to isolate himself from the shadow left by his forbearers. The beginning of my film will include what a day to day life appears to be to the protagonist. This story would not have an opposing character as an antagonist. Thereby leading to a classification of  man versus nature. The nature would be stress, self-imagery, and the hostile world of business. There w...

Practical Update #10

In the previous post, I mentioned how I took advantage of the sales to buy equipment. I also went on to talk in detail about the specifications I needed for the camera and the drone and my reasoning behind it. In this post I will be explaining my reasoning behind my purchase of the other pieces of equipment. These being a lavalier microphone, a tripod, and a micro SD card. The microphone is needed as to record clear dialogue and diegetic sounds. To do this, I have bought an omni-directional microphone to capture the sound of the world of the film to its fullest. This microphone is wireless which may impact the sound of audio versus the traditionally wired version. However, this should reduce the mess of the set and instead further organization. I decided that buying a tripod would be beneficial due to less need of hand held use. Hand held use would cause a shakiness in the recording and would be quite the opposite of a steady shot. More so the capabilities of the tripod would allo...

Practical Update #9

In blog post number 8, I mentioned that I would be taking advantage of the recession and cut my time for all stages of production. 1 week later this is no longer the case. This is due to my finding of sales with in this time period. Which greatly reduces the costs of the production and has allowed it to become more affordable. Of the equipment I bought, it includes, a drone with an attachable mount for a camera, a tripod for a camera, a micro SD card, a camera, and a lavalier omnidirectional microphone. Of this List two items have posed the largest complication. These items are the camera and the drone. The camera i bought has 4k shooting and recording abilities. It can run 4k at 30 frames per second and HD at 60 frames per second. My reasoning for choosing these specific capabilities comes down to the graphics ability. At 4k, the graphics of the film should be very clear and sharp which further gives the viewer a better feel of immersion. Whilst all of this is true, 4k at 30 fram...

Final Assessment Update #8

In this day and age, we are expected to enter a recession in a few months. Upon realization on what this means for my film, I realized that I could force an opportunity by taking advantage the constant price fluctuations and spend less. This would thereby decrease the spending costs of the film. As a result I have taken some step of precaution to edit my time of preproduction, production, and post production.  As of this period in time, we are pre-recession. Which means companies are willing to sell their products at a markup to maximize profits. Effects like this are already occurring with Tesla's global 20 percent off sale on its Model Y selection. This is ofc to profit the company before the rescission and allow the reduced stock of the car to shoot upward to monument highest during recession. Because of the lower stock of products, consumers are forced to compete against one another with ever increasing prices for the same product. As of this moment however, I am looking ...

Sound in Television #7

Sound helps deliver information through ease of immersion into the artificial world that which is created. Sound indicates points that support the story and allows it to continue. Sound can establish a setting and develop a character. It also advances a story's plot by communicating emotions.  Sound allows for emotional responses to come from the audience. This is due to the amygdala which is a part of your brain that is extremely sensitive to sound. As a result, sounds we hear provoke an emotional response from us. Emotions triggered by sound can then trigger certain thoughts or engagement from the audience.  Sound indicates mood by triggering underlying thoughts of possible outcomes. This arithmetic or melodic pattern is causing thoughts that allow the audience to connect their thoughts with real experiences. The Commonalities of Character Types #5

Image
Every genre has character types in them. Whether those character types be as common as the tertiary characters or as rare as a stock character. Most notably, protagonists, antagonists, and deuteragonists are used quite often in dramas. This is because they often play an essential role in influencing the plot of the film or theater. Generally the main character is usually the protagonist of the story. The protagonist champions the most screen time and lines as they are the character that the audience focuses on. The plot and story board focuses on the fate of the protagonist as they are central to the drama. The protagonist often displays deep emotion. The antagonist is the opposite of the protagonist as the antagonist maybe either hostile or in opposition to the goals of the protagonist. In most scenarios, the antagonist is better known as evil or the bad guy. The antagonist has the goals of opposing the main character and acting as an obstacle between the protagonist and their goals. ...

The Historic of Genre #3

Image
The genre of drama is one of the oldest genres in the world. The first use of genre dates back to 335 BC in Greece. Aristotle's poetics influenced comedy and tragedy alike for over 2000 years, even until this day. In the original form of the drama, it depicts fate or other supernatural forces against humanity. Drama has influenced both literary and film for hundreds of years. In some cases films have become dramatic adaptations of literary work. In other cases it is the literary works that have become the adaptations of the films. In this way drama is influencing today's medias. Time has also largely influenced drama and how it is displayed. During the 19th and 20th century, the script of drama has changed to reflect the struggles of life and the realities of the world. It should be realized that as in 335 BC, drama was depicting man versus nature, while in the 19 and 20th century drama was depicted as humanity versus self. As a result, the drama had gained a shift in accordanc...
