Practical Update #9

In blog post number 8, I mentioned that I would be taking advantage of the recession and cut my time for all stages of production. 1 week later this is no longer the case. This is due to my finding of sales with in this time period. Which greatly reduces the costs of the production and has allowed it to become more affordable.

Of the equipment I bought, it includes, a drone with an attachable mount for a camera, a tripod for a camera, a micro SD card, a camera, and a lavalier omnidirectional microphone. Of this List two items have posed the largest complication. These items are the camera and the drone.

The camera i bought has 4k shooting and recording abilities. It can run 4k at 30 frames per second and HD at 60 frames per second. My reasoning for choosing these specific capabilities comes down to the graphics ability. At 4k, the graphics of the film should be very clear and sharp which further gives the viewer a better feel of immersion. Whilst all of this is true, 4k at 30 frames per second could also give way to screen tear when shooting pans or tilts which would ruin the quality of the recording. As a result, the feature of HD at 60 frames per second nullifies this and gives as best seamless recording quality as possible.

The drone gave me quite the struggle. I have been aiming to find a drone within my budget but also has a maximum range of 45 meters in altitude so I can maximize the grand scale or rather the seemingly grand proportion of the project. This drone comes with a camera of its own that records at 4k however the quality of the camera is quite horrendous. As a result, I researched and was able to find that I can remove the default camera and insert my own. Thereby, giving equal quality of recording with minimal variation in graphics.
